Agrigento

Agrigento is an ancient Town located on the south coast of Sicily. The Rhodian-Cretan colonists founded the city in 582 B.C. and named it “Akragas”; whereas, according to mythology, Agrigento was founded by Daedalus and his son Icarus while following their flight from Crete.

Visiting this city you’ll go to the discovery of its glorious past; the splendid Archaeological Park, dated around V century, is part of UNESCO World Heritage. The Temple of Hera, the Temple of Hercules, the Temple of Zeus ant the Temple of Concordia are just few examples among the eight temples and various other remains that constitute the whole area; in particular, the Temple of Concordia is the best-preserved example of Doric art in Italy, and one of the best-preserved Greek temple in the world.

The archaeological park includes also necropoli, houses, a small amphitheatre, several auditoria and the archaeological museum.
