More than just truffle hunting – spend a day immersed in the culture and cuisine of our ancestral village in the heart of the Noto Valley and the traditions of our local friends who have been custodians of this land for many centuries.

Before your arrival, enjoy the breathtaking drive up to the Noto Valley.

Tucked away among the rolling hills and valleys of our land. Situated in southeastern Sicily, Val di Noto (the Noto Valley) – with its eight gorgeous late-Baroque cities – became one of the Italian UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2002.

The eight cities are:  Caltagirone, Militello Val di Catania, Catania, Modica, Noto, Palazzolo Acreide, Ragusa and Scicli. These cities already existed during the Medieval Age, but were rebuilt (in part or entirely) after the catastrophic earthquake of 1693. Having followed the stylistic model predominant during the era, the cities’ architecture, urban plan and decorations constitute the culmination of one of the last periods of Baroque’s flourish in Europe.

On arrival, you’ll meet the family and drink a freshly brewed espresso coffee before heading off into the forests and fields surrounding the village, with our guys, the truffle hunters.

The truffle hunters have many dogs skillfully trained to sniff out the precious Sicilian truffles. It’s a pleasant stroll in some really lovely countryside, with plenty of time to enjoy the views and watch the dogs work.

Sometimes it’s surprisingly easy, other times quite a challenge, but we stroll until we have enough truffles for our big Sicilian lunch.

Food and Wine Grand Tour of Sicily – 10 Days
This Food and Wine Tour of Sicily is a 10 days private tour, land only with an English-speaking driver who will lead you to the discovery of Sicily’s excellent food and wine while visiting the most enchanting spots of the island.

Being an everyday job here in Sicily we are very unpretentious about truffles and you might be surprised how many we can find. You’re welcome to smell them, touch them and of course you will eventually taste them.

The walk is very easy and requires no particular effort.

A truffle snack and a sip of wine is always in the back of a hunter’s mind, so we have to move to the restaurant soon ….

On the way to the restaurant, we will visit the ethno-anthropological itinerary “the farmer work places”, that includes a visit of the museum dedicated to the artisanal works, and a tour of the places of the past: the farmer home, the millstone, the blacksmith shop, the carpenter shop, the shoemaker shop and other typical works of the time.

You will learn how people used to work and live, within an environment incredibly well preserved.

We will then transfer to an authentic Sicilian restaurant, where an experienced chef will welcome you and you can learn how to clean and use the truffle, a natural wonder, perfect for enriching many dishes and transforming taste into an experience.

Truffle hunting in Sicily can really work up an appetite, so we’ll head to the kitchen for a very big but very relaxing traditional Sicilian lunch. Everyone joins for the lunch and you’ll try lots of local recipes as well as loads of local wine. The day ends with a visit to the amazing Palazzolo Acreide, an ancient greek town founded in 650 BC, with a perfectly preserved greek theater and a downtown built in Barocco style, with two of the churches that recently became UNESCO heritage. You will enjoy a nice walk in the old town, with many options to taste refreshing drinks, icrecream and almond pastry from the old Sicilian culinary tradition.
